Tarmac Aerosave accomodates its 1st A380

Tarmac Aerosave announced the delivery of additional parkings for very wide-bodied aircraft.

The 500th aircraft to be stored is an Airbus A380 in transition, the MSN 003 ex Singapore Airlines

TARMAC Aerosave has stored 500 airliners in ten years at its sites in Tarbes and Teruel, in Spain. With approvals for storage, maintenance and recycling of all types of commercial aircraft - Airbus, Boeing, ATR, Bombardier, Embraer – TARMAC Aerosave stored its first A380 on 13 November 2017.
Owned by the German leasing company Dr Peters, this aircraft was operated by Singapore Airlines before arriving in Tarbes--Singapore Airlines is renewing its fleet of A380's for which it was the launch company. This A380 bears the serial number MSN003, it first entered service in 2007. Repainted white, as required for transition aircraft, it will be stored in Tarbes-Lourdes on an area specially designed for this extraordinary aircraft.

New wide-bodied storage parkings in Tarbes

Although TARMAC Aerosave already has the capacity to store nearly 300 aircraft simultaneously, at its sites in Tarbes, Teruel and Toulouse-Francazal, the company must adapt to growing market demand. Anticipating the need to accommodate the Airbus A380, the size and weight of which requires specific handling, TARMAC Aerosave started work extending the Tarbes storage areas at the beginning of 2017. The first of these areas was delivered on 9 November 2017. These developments have enabled TARMAC Aerosave to maintain its position as the leading European storage site. Aircraft storage represents 80% of its activity.

In order to support its growth, TARMAC Aerosave will have at the end of 2017 a third storage and maintenance site in Toulouse-Francazal that can accommodate up to 25 regional and "single aisle" aircraft.
